Educational Consulting and Training Services

Advanced Education Services (AES) Consulting Services offers training and program enhancement courses to charter schools, nonpublic schools and private schools. Our Consulting Services staff can assist with program development and student and program assessments. We also offer full service evaluations and staff training.
Our mission is to provide programs, materials, training and staff, as appropriate, to satisfy requirements by federal, state and local educational entities, thus allowing our clients to be successful in the service and programs they provide.
Whether it is related to curriculum, state standards, annual or recurring teacher training, special education, school operations, onsite reviews or AHERA management, AES Consulting Services is available to assist you.

We offer a range of services to private schools from one-time consulting to consulting on a scheduled basis. We can assist with teacher training, training for state standards, office services (payroll, records) and general school management.
Advanced Education Services (AES) Consulting Services offers training and program enhancement courses to group homes that serve children with behavioral and emotional problems who have been victims of abuse, neglect and family instability. Our Consulting Services staff can assist with program development and staff training.

Preventing Sexual Harassment
This workshop complies with California’s AB 1825 training requirements. By the end of the course, staff understand their respon- sibilities as well as their employer’s responsibilities to keep the workplace a fair and respectful environment. (2 hours)
Water Safety Today
This out-of-the-water course, approved for group homes by CCL, provides staff with ways to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies in and around the water. (2 hours)
Child Abuse and Mandated Reporting
This workshop includes a history of child protection, the behavioral effects of abuse, helpful interven- tions, and mandated reporting requirements for Child Care Workers. (2 hours)

CPR/First Aid
This American Red Cross course, taught by certified instructors, is designed to give staff confidence and skills when faced with medical emergencies. Adult, Child and Infant CPR is available. (4 hours)
Client Rights
In this course, a short history of children’s rights is followed by a detailed discussion of client rights. (2 hours)
Client Supervision
By the end of this workshop staff will understand the elements of quality supervision of the children in our care. (2 hours)
Self-Management:
Self-control and the ability to pull back from responding emotionally to client behavior is a basic skill for child care workers. This course uses interactive exercises to develop this skill, and also includes active listening exercises. (2 hours)
Ethical Decision Making and Professional Conduct
This course provides staff with a clear understanding of what their responsibilities are in regard to ethical conduct. It also gives a variety tests for making ethical decisions. (2 hours)
Communication Skills
This course covers non-verbal communication, active listening, and overcoming listening blocks, and problem solving. Partici- pants are engaged with interactive exercises and skill building role plays. (4 hours)
Cultural Diversity
This workshop explores cultural stereotypes and myths, and generally prepares staff to interact appropriately with our ethnically diverse client population. (2 hours)
Classroom & Behavior Management
The dynamics of influencing positive behavioral change are discussed. Punishment and discipline are compared, and a problem solving method practiced. (2 hours)
Working with Extreme Behaviors
Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Mood Disorders are described. (2 hours)
Child Development: the Effects of Abuse and Neglect
This course gives an overview of child development and explores the behavioral effects of developmental delays. Strategies for treatment are discussed. (2 hours)
Drug Abuse
This informational course will help the child care worker recognize and better understand drug abuse and its behavioral effects. (2 hours)
Sexual Identity
Understanding Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual and Transgender (GLBT) Youth -- Since it is estimated that 5-10% of youth in care fall under the GLBT label, it is important to understand how to be effective with this population. (2 hours)
Understanding Street Gangs
This course provides a balanced overview of traditional and non-traditional gangs. It explores Hispanic, African American, Asian, and Caucasian gang cultures. (2 hours)
Suicide Prevention
Suicide statistics, myths, red flags and interventions are discussed in this class. (2 hours)
Working with Extreme Behaviors
Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Mood Disorders are described. (2 hours)

New Teacher Orientation:
The new teacher training addresses general or specific concerns for the new or veteran teacher. The course includes; lesson plan writing, behavior management, classroom set-up, seating arrangements, how to write measurable, observable goals and objectives and best practices in teaching. (2-6 hours)
Special Education Laws, Regulations and Needs:
The Special Education Laws, Regulations and Needs session teaches the “how-to” of writing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), writing and incorporating educational goals in the IEPs, lesson plans and daily instruction, setting up SSTs, reading Psycho educa- tional reports, administering academic assessments and explains descriptions of eligibilities. (2-6 hours)
504, RTI and classroom modifications and accommodations:
This course features: How to write and incorporate 504 plans into the classroom, what accommodations and modifications are al- lowed and usable and how they are used, how they work and which ones work best for particular students. How to document re- sponses to interventions and how you are obligated. (2 hours)
