Excelsior School meets the special education needs for children in grades K-12 from the San Juan, Center Unified and Folsom-Cordova Unified School Districts. Excelsior is a nonpublic school certified by the California State Department of Education Nonpublic School and Agency Unit.

40% of Excelsior's students carry a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Excelsior takes great pride in the students’ achievements and contributes their success due to the low ratio of 1:4 students per adults and smaller class sizes with an average of 8 - 12 students per class.

Behavioral issues, attendance and grades are all emphasized in an effort to allow each child to reach their goals. Excelsior offers extracurricular activities such as Student Council, CIF Athletics, volunteer opportunities and a monthly newspaper called the "Knightly News" to encourage students to pursue their creative interests as well as further develop their academic skills. CIF Athletics include: boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, soccer, volleyball, and track and field. Excelsior has received numerous "AES Apple Awards,” Advanced Education Services recognition award of excellence. The awards are proudly displayed in the administrative office and in every classroom.
